The design intent was to blend in with the curves of the surrounding mountainous terrain; and that it does. This iconic mid-century modern home, one of fourteen circular residences designed by the master architect, FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT, is discretely nestled into the hillside mimicking the natural hues and tones of the landscape. 

The interiors are equally respectful composed of overlaying concentric circles, the basis of the floorplan, guiding you faultlessly from one room to the next. Each room beholding its own unhindered majestic view of Palm Canyon and the city with its shimmering lights below. 

Views weren’t just limited to this magnificent structure but could also be enjoyed in a fun array of complementing elements. As the sun set on the evening, a colorful array of lights began to dance on the exterior walls of the central structure. The circular patterns mimicking the round window frames with colors hinting at what was yet to come. My personal favorite…the silent, but stunning models costumed in monochromatic couture posing quietly or floating across spaces. One word, FUN!

Besides clever and artistic plays off this historic home, guests enjoyed delicious bites and beverages, and sprawling entertaining spaces as they flowed both inside and outside enjoying ample patios, a crescent-shaped pool no less, and furnishings by STUDIO 3125.

Desert Valley Audio Video hosted the grand opening of their certified Control4 showroom in North Scottsdale! JUSTIN WORLEY, owner, and his team, BUZZ JENSEN, BEN KAYL, JAMES LACEK and STEVE FURLETTI were on hand for live demonstrations of Dolby surround sounds, HDR theater experiences, and luxury outside entertainment options. And of course, the Control4 Smart Home and Automation system to over 100 attendees. 

Besides mixing and mingling guests got an insider’s look at how automation can be personalized to the client. The star of the show was the Control4 solution which delivers orchestrated smart home experiences that make the home safer, more comfortable, and enjoyable all with one easy to understand control panel (nice). 

And enjoyable the evening was! Delicious bites, bubbles and amazing prizes and goody bags.

Designer JUIN HO’S first-valley appearance arrived with a drum roll at TOWN. A growing high-net-worth consuming group, today’s new aristocracy, range from 25 to 49 and encompass the younger portion of Gen X and the Millennial.

Design Sensibility

Generally boasting a varied design sensibility, this new aristocracy has a passion for clean lines and open spaces. However, such design is tempered with more complex lines and details akin to traditional elements. While the modern aesthetic continues to grow in popularity, classical styles such as Victorian, Tudor and Brick Georgian homes prove just as popular.

Quite surprising for a generation that has grown up revealing their personal lives online, this new aristocracy has a need for security and privacy. Top in their must-haves are homes with great entertaining options such as comfortable outdoor spaces, home fitness centers, commercial-grade kitchen appliances, and nearby restaurants; and security features like monitored security systems. 

Fitness

A well-outfitted gym and spa are highly practical and desired for the time-starved, high-net-worth buyer with physical health ringing in as a top priority.

Sustainability

In-home technology is officially part of daily life. Voice-controlled devices and smart home technology centered around sustainable living is the new hot item. High-efficiency windows and doors and smartphone integrated efficient HVAC system is a prime selling feature for today’s buyer regardless of their purchasing spectrum.

Entertaining

The kitchen is still the heart of the home with a keen focus on specialized cooking areas. Commercial-grade appliances, dual refrigerators and dual dishwashers on the priority list as are separate catering kitchens/butler’s pantry and outdoor kitchen space for poolside entertaining.
